A NEW CHALLENGE IN BRAKE DISCS
FOR FOUR-WHEELED VEHICLES

Creating the Brakes of the Future

A Challenge to Develop Brake Discs
for Four-Wheeled Vehicles Required by the Next Generation

Our brake development project for four-wheeled vehicles began in 2016.
To enhance the environmental performance required of next-generation automobiles, we are leveraging the brake development expertise and press-processing technologies cultivated through motorcycle applications to take on the challenge of developing stainless steel brake discs for four-wheeled vehicles.

Advantages of Our Stainless Steel Brake Discs

High Corrosion Resistance

The photograph shows the results of a 600-hour salt spray test conducted on a cast iron disc and our stainless steel disc. The difference is unmistakable. Our stainless steel disc demonstrates its true value in all types of environments, including coastal areas, snowy regions, humid climates, and during operation on rough road conditions.

Low Brake Dust

Another key feature is the reduced amount of brake dust released into the atmosphere compared with cast iron discs. This is due to the inherent high wear resistance and corrosion resistance of stainless steel, which prevents the generation of metal particles and rust-derived dust. In addition to complying with European brake dust regulations known as Euro 7, this also contributes to maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and road surfaces.

Future Outlook

Multiple patents have already been secured. Bench testing has been completed, and the project is now progressing toward installation on actual vehicles. With the aftermarket sector also in view, we are accelerating both development and proposal activities.
